Every January, guests, and judges from around the world make their way to San Francisco to participate in the San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition.  The SF Chronicle Wine Competition is the largest of its kind in all of North America and winemakers from the U.S., Canada, and Mexico compete with each other for awards and recognition.  Campos Family Vineyards is excited to bring home medals for award-winning wines, including a Best of Class and Gold medal. 

Campos Family Vineyard, located in Byron, CA has a rich history of community and giving back while they make enjoyable wines with purpose.  Owners, Michelle and Ric Campos have committed to creating exceptional wines while attending to their lush vineyards and ensuring their winery and event center is a space that brings families, the community, together.  The Campos Family Vineyard team is continually focused on how they can elevate their space, their wines, and their commitment to their community with each event, glass of wine they pour, and experience they share at the property. 

In fact, many of the award-winning wines are part of the Campos Family Vineyard’s giving back program.  For many of their wines, including Gigi’s Blend, 65 Roses Estate Rose, Quinny’s Estate Blend, and Forget Me Not Estate Blend, each bottle sold results in a donation to a select non-profit.  Not only can you experience great wines, but you can also enjoy them knowing you are supporting a great cause.  

What is the SF Wine Competition

The San Francisco Wine Competition is an exclusive wine-competition.  Wines from the U.S., Mexico, and Canada were presented to a panel of 65 professional judges.  Competitors come from a unique variety of wineries, but all of whom sell their wines professionally. This is not a competition for hobbyists or amateur wine-enthusiasts.  The 2020 SF Wine Competition had 6,700 wines from over 1,000 wineries. 

Categories are broken down by wine varietal and price point. Awards can range from Best of class to gold, silver, and bronze – with sweepstakes winners broken down by red, rose, specialty, white, sparkling wines and labels.  It is only through careful deliberation that winning wines are selected. Campos Family Vineyards is proud to have won the awards in ten different categories.

She’s the child our daughter Jamie was told she would never have. Truly, she’s God’s gift. Not everything comes easily or naturally to Gianna, who has Asperger’s. Being Gianna comes with tall mountains and rough seas, but strong in spirit, she charges on. Full of excitement, love, and creativity, she charges on. Full of excitement, love, and creativity, she is bright and bold with an entrepreneurial spirit – just like Gigi’s Blend, which is also complex, deep and rich. Full of a sweet aroma called love and acceptance, Gianna’s laugh is infectious and her big hugs, unforgettable. She burst with endless knowledge and wisdom well beyond her age. To our family, ‘special needs’ really means ‘World Changers!!’ Gianna, also known as ‘Gigi,’ has changed our world for the better!”

2018 65 Roses Estate Rose – Dry Rose/Blush

Campos Family Vineyards is proud to offer our bright and beautiful Estate Rose. Contra Costa County is where these Award Winning Estate Petite Sirah, Barbera, Cabernet Franc & Zinfandel grapes are grown. (Fun Fact, there are 65 roses on the label!) Tiffany was diagnosed at birth with cystic fibrosis. With ongoing infections, her lungs began to form irreversible scarring which led to a significant decline in health. Tiffany ultimately needed a life-saving double lung transplant. She was actively listed for a double lung transplant at Stanford Hospital at the age of 24. Days turned into years and her cystic fibrosis progressed. In late 2016, she got the call that saved her life! She is so happy to be breathing easy. Thanks to your purchase, a portion of the proceeds will be going to the Children’s Organ Transplant Association in honor of Tiffany Rich to help with transplant-related expenses

2017 Quinny’s Estate Blend – Mourvedre Blend

This delicious blend of Estate Mourvedre, Barbera and Cabernet Franc has been made in honor of Pat Ornellas, fondly known to many as Quinny, who lost his battle with ALS. He was a passionate high energy man with a zest for life, but above all else — he was a fighter. The Lord put it on our hearts to continue the fight against ALS, to raise awareness and increase funding to fight this horrific disease. We invite you into our tasting room to purchase a bottle of Quinny’s Blend, to help us support ALS.

2017 Forget Me Not Estate Blend – Mouvedre Blend

Campos Family Vineyards is proud to present this beautiful Estate blend of Mourvedre. Barbera and Cabernet Franc in honor of Sylvia who was diagnosed with Dementia at the young age of 60.

Just 3 short years since her diagnosis she now walks with a shuffle to keep her balance and is not able to comprehend nor carry out simple tasks that we take for granted like pouring her own glass of tea. Sylvia’s family will be beside her and help her through this transition just as she had always done for us. Until one day, the sweet sunshine that radiates from her slowly sets and she says her final goodbye. *A portion of the proceeds from the sale of this wine will be donated to Dementia Support & Care Services.

2017 Petite Sirah leading blend – Big Red Estate Blend  

A beautiful full-bodied bold, spicy blend of Estate Petite Sirah, Zinfandel, and Cabernet Franc mirrors the vivacious personality this wine is made in honor of Suzanne (lovingly called Big Red). She was taken from us much too soon but her love for life and rich spirit will live with those that loved her forever! Contra Costa County, located east of the San Francisco Bay is the home to these bold and smooth Estate grapes. The warm climate and the cool Delta breeze helps the fruit to blossom to their fullest and richest flavors. Just like Suzanne, this wine pairs well with great family, close friends and a lot of Big Red Love!
